In spite of the considerable body pedagogical and experimental research providing clear insights into best practices for pronunciation instruction, there exists relatively little implementation such in materials including textbooks. This is particularly true target languages other than English. With goal assisting instructors wishing to build effective evidence-based instructional practices, we outline a set key principles relevant teaching general, illustrated here via Spanish particular, drawing on previous as well methods findings from (applied) linguistics. overall enabling learners move toward greater intelligibility, these include importance perceptual training onset learning, strong prosodic component, use contextualized activities, focus segmental phenomena with high functional load those that are shared across language varieties. We conclude discussion ways which exposed can be extended beyond individual activities design broader curriculum.

Teaching geometrical principles to design students

We propose a new method of teaching the principles of geometry to design students. The students focus on a field of design in which geometry is the design: tessellation. We review different approaches to geometry and the field of tessellation before we discuss the setup of the course. Instead of employing 2D drawing tools, such as Adobe Illustrator, the students define their tessellation in mat...
